Named after Chicago's 19th century Jewish marketplace, Maxwell Street Klezmer Band injects fresh energy into the music of the past. Vocalist Bibi Marcell warms the stage with her love of Yiddish while Shelley Yoelin jazzes things up with his expressive clarinet. With violinist Alex Koffman leading the way with his blend of classical and klezmer playing style and Gail Mangurten bringing it all together on keyboard, this Klezmer quartet pays tribute to the masters of the past while having fun with tradition. Maxwell Street appeals to audiences of all ages and backgrounds with engaging energy, warmth and humor.
